still catching up

why am i so inconsistent at posting?
i guess we all might be inconsistent at things we do

i think i was supposed to talk about an awful february?
i clearly missed all posts in march and april.
nothing too exciting there; just got to a new job and new town, but really close to where i was.
but i have to move back to where i was at the end of may.
oh, well. i like both places. my director just can't make up her mind as to exactly when i'm to move.

february was tough month.
mostly because of work.
my former boss was treating people like they were stray dogs, old and new teachers alike.
all the while, because she is literally in love with me (long story, if i haven't illustrated before), she treats me like a god. i try to be a good guy in my life so i sucks watching people get treated like crap and not be able to do anything about it. and to answer your question, no, there was nothing i could have done. the lady was/is on a power trip. we all know what happens when a korean goes on a power trip! and she thinks her position grants her automatic legitimacy.

i mean, the lady was trying to tell me where to work next. she said getting another job in the same part of town would be detrimental to parents' view upon the kindergarten and her. well, when i go back to butter her up for a future job reference, i'm going to let her know i'm working just down the street. ;)

also, my girlfriend left korea on 2-days notice, after living with me for 6 weeks in waiting of her new job to start after week 8. another emotional stress.

in february, i had a major problem with my ear. i woke up 1 morning and couldn't out of my right ear and i couldn't even sit up or stand. a trip to the ER and a follow-up 10 days later were required, as were $1300 from my pocket of which my private insurance company refunded only $300. i don't have private anymore; i'm mos def on nhs.

oh, yeah, i was also looking for a job. i don't know if it's because of my visa, but it was not very easy finding another job.

march and april, what can i say? new job is way too much work. none difficult, but just loads of grading. stupid corporate private academies.

gosh. it all looks pretty bad in a compilation, doesn't it?
it's OK because i have some good news for the next post.

lots of love,

jo

two months late

new year's resolutions.

even though i'm mega-late with these i want to post them anyway.
at least as a sort of record so i can come back and look at these in the future.

i have to make this a quick one because i'm packing my bags right now and moving in a couple hours.
don't freak out or get too excited.
i'll explain in the next post.

anyway. here they are.

1) run a marathon this year.
1b) run two (2) marathons next year

2) buy more music

3) follow the 'bible in a year' program

4) follow 'my utmost for his highest' daily devotionals

5) take intensive korean classes

6) blog a little more

i usually don't make new year's resolutions because i've always been perfect; there's never been anything in need of resolve.

after the worst month ever, i've decided to take seriously my resolutions.

lots of love,

jo

the end of 2010

well, let's go back.
back to the year 2010.

it was back then i extended my stay at my school.
it was back then, of the 8 saturdays (including christmas) between november and december my 2 coworkers and i were required to work 5 of those days.

it was then i hung out a lot with my sister.

it was then i spent some holiday time with my cousins

it was then i came upon a girlfriend.
if you could call her my girlfriend at the time, though neither i nor most others would have.

it was then 3 americans (myself inclusive) and a new zealander gathered for a feast in celebration of american thanksgiving.

it was then i began serious serious internal discussions about the purchase of a new computer.

it was then i was to start to ponder upon my new years' resolutions.

it was then, in late 2010, i should have written more blogs about my thoughts and feelings.

it was then, on christmas eve, i spent all evening in the emergency room, rather than with my sister, with a fever of 104 F.

it was then, on christmas, i experienced a great gathering of good friends.

it was then on new years' eve, i spent the countdown, festivities, and celebrations in a great tourist spot in korea, bound in a hotel bed by a recurrence of my christmas eve fever.

it was then, i had a good year.
though work was quite stressful and strenuous at times, job stability was nice.
family time was great, especially with the arrival of my sister.

a belated goodbye to 2010.
i've always be a sentimental guy, anyway.

onwards!
to 2011!

lots of love,

jo

october
2010

it was a saturday.

and it was the last time i posted on here.

that's a hell of a long time ago.
certainly a hell of a lot has changed since then as well.

i motion to post a blog soon. actually, more than 1.
multiple blogs are in order, though with sufficient time between each blog as to allow each post to dissipate into the interwebs.

the motion is seconded by the gentlemen and moves to a vote.
those in favor? great.

those opposed? get the hell out.

my life.
coming (back) soon.

lots of love,

jo

[no title]

it seems like these days i'm only using my blog to piss and moan about something.
well, that's not going to change this post.

texas is leading the yankees 2-1 in the alcs.
not looking good after cliff lee just pitched new york into smithereens.
not too mention the 6 run 9th. great job bullpen.
and you thought the rangers' bullpen was looking bad after game 1?

#2
my boss had a grand total of 6 prospective moms come in for meetings today.
yes, she is still bringing in kids halfway through the academic year and, no, they don't know english.
if that's not a sign that my boss is doing it for the money, i don't know what is.

imagine a 12-year-old child who has never been to school.
i'm not just talking about public school.
i'm talking about all schooling.
actually, imagine a 12-year-old ferrel child.
and then drop him/her into middle school just after thanksgiving break.
that's what is like.
sure, the kid will eventually catch up, but all the other kids will take a hit in the meantime.

well, it might not be that bad.
but it's almost that bad.

i'm slumping in soccer lately.
almost like i've been cheating on my wife with hookers and had a falling out with my manager (see wayne rooney)
speaking of soccer:
did you hear about that new john henry pick up?
john henry bought his third sports team.
so i'm pretty sure he spends a heck of a lot more than george did.
i highly doubt he has any nascar cups (or whatever they're called) and he's got a long way to go before he takes any major competition with liverpool currently in the relegation zone.
so, let's start the clock now and i bet he still can't win as many championships as george did (which is 7).

enough of the 'call-outs.'
how 'bout a 'shout-out?'

my good friend, former co-worker and fellow half-korean kim has started a little gem of a blog.
it can be found here:

shikdangmissionstatement.blogspot.com

for those in korea, this will become a nice little guide about korean food.
many koreans go apey over little restaurants, snapping pics of the food, the decor, the people, the surrounding streets (to list pictorial directions), etc., and litter a blogpost with all the info.
well, this will become a sort of english version of these fanatical, gormand weblogs.

for those not in korea, this could be a window into the world of korean kuisine. i mean, cuisine.
you'll see some inherently korean dishes.
a slew of foreign restaurants will be presented.
the occasional home-cooked, ingredients-found-in-korea meal will appear.

it's just starting, so give it a few days until some of the good stuff appears.
but there are 3 of us authors so you'll see a number of different views of food in the land of the morning calm.

well, that wasn't so bad.
not all negative.

just a friendly reminder to those back home:
you can find my pretty face on skype at joseph.cundiff.
i dearly miss you. well, most of you.
a few of you i sort of miss.

lots of love,

jo
